It’s a powerful combination — tutoring a child can help him or her thrive in school. But add in mentoring, and that student can thrive in life, as well!
The Leaven proactively works with students — primarily in first through fifth grades — giving at-risk youth extra help to excel before problems occur. More than 8 in 10 Leaven students represent racial and ethnic minorities, and the majority live in extremely low-income households.
Through a partnership with Kaiser Permanente, The Leaven is also active in the fight against childhood obesity through programs that teach nutrition and the importance of making healthy food choices.
