Muriithi Alafia is the site director for our Parkway Gardens center in Fairfield. Muriithi recently moved to Fairfield from Southern California and is also a substitute teacher for the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District. Muriithi grew up in the Bay Area and has worked in child development and education, as well as in the technical field. His pastor, David C. Isom, who is also the president of the school board, introduced Muriithi to The Leaven. “I was excited about the opportunity to help children strengthen their learning skills,” Muriithi told us, “as well as connecting with the community and parents.” Muriithi’s vision for the students who come to Parkway Gardens is that they will develop a “greater sense of confidence and an ability to use their individual and God-given gifts. I want to see young people so full of courage in their learning that it can’t be stifled in middle school and high school, and that they will have courage to always do the right thing.” Muriithi and his wife attend St. Stephen CME Church in Fairfield where Muriithi is part of the music ministry.
