Renae’s Letter

My name is Renae, and I’m the grandmother of Karen and Jazmin. I’m writing to thank you for what you’ve done for my granddaughters. Our family has struggled with generational addiction and homelessness. The girls have had many challenges in their short lives.

Karen missed 30 days in the first grade, and she was late every day the rest of the year. That was before they lost their home to a fire. Because she was so far behind, she had to repeat first grade.

And little Jazmin had gone through preschool, but she still didn’t recognize letters or numbers.

I knew about The Leaven through my church and their active involvement. I decided to ask if attending could be an option for my granddaughters, and soon after, they started Summer Success.

Well, I’m happy to share that Karen is excelling in school, has caught up to her grade level and will be moving into 2nd grade. And Jazmin is reading at a 1st-grade level and is writing her own little stories!  I cannot say enough about The Leaven and how they have helped Karen and Jazmin succeed when we were struggling with life’s challenges.

Thank you Leaven for all you do to help and mentor children and families, I believe in you!
